**Discover fishing at Sörbyn Lodge** It might appear as if Sörbyn is at the end of the road, but it isn’t. On the contrary – it’s just half an hour from Boden train station, an hour from Luleå Airport and three hours from Stockholm Central. We think it’s central – particularly for a place in the middle of the Woodlands of Swedish Lapland. Our facility is on the shore of Lake Vitträsket, a lake that is fed by a cold spring, no more than a double stone’s throw from the free-flowing waters of the Råne River. We offer our guests comfortable lodgings, culinary sensations, memorable meetings and thrilling adventures. **Fishing at Sörbyn Lodge** The lodge is beautifully placed on the shore of a cold spring lake holding a good population of arctic char but also pike and perch. Not far from the camp Sweden’s longest unexploited river, the Råne river, is running through the landscape in various speed and appearance. It’s a medium sized and wild river with Baltic salmon running for the spawning areas high up the river. Råne river is famous of its strong population of big pike, nevertheless you have great opportunities to make nice catches of fish like ide, zander and perch. In our area we also have a lot of untouched lakes, both large and small ones. These lakes have very little, or none, angling pressure. In most lakes we have a strong population of pike, perch and roach but some lakes also hold other species like trout, zander and grayling. Close to the lodge you can access smaller streams, some of them with trout and grayling. However, for trophy size fish you normally must go a bit further. We provide guiding for all species in our area and with all different methods like fly-fishing, spin fishing, trolling etc. We also offer longer guided excursions, to the Swedish mountain range, with overnight for lake trout, brown trout, grayling and arctic char. __Salmon__ This is one of Scandinavia’s best kept salmon secrets. Råne river is a perfect sized river for fly fishermen. A skillful caster cover all river and in low summer water it is possible to use single hand rods. The fishing is preferably done in the mid and upper parts of the river 15 to 45 minutes’ drive from the lodge. The fishing is done in a sustainable way with a gently outtake of fish controlled by a tag-system. You need a special permit, the tag, to fish for salmon. If you like to keep a fish you tag it immediately at the riverside. You have to report all fishing – also when the fish is released. The annual run is normally 1000-3000 salmons. As a first visitor it is wise to use a guide, when the holding pools and hot spots of the river is not always easy to find. The river is easy accessed by car at most of the stretches – but the ones who is willing to take the half hour walk and cover some undisturbed water, have good opportunity to find a private favorite place. __Pike__ Come and fish the untouched waters of Swedish Lapland, with its wide variety of waters in astonishing environments. In the close area of the camp we have, big lakes, the wild and free flowing Råne river that holds a good population of big pike. With only a short drive we enjoy pike fishing in the archipelago of the Bothnian Bay, that often deliver big numbers of pike with chances of really big fish as well. __Trout & Grayling__ In the woodlands you find a wide range of trout fishing locations, from small creeks, to wild rivers and small dark lakes to great clearwater lakes. Our natural species for the trout fisherman is brown trout, grayling and arctic char, but we also have lake trout that have established strong populations from the original stocks that were introduced during the 1960’s. Grayling is found in almost all kind of running waters in the area near the lodge. However, to reach the real trophy waters for grayling in streams we normally must go a little bit further. Nevertheless, we do have big graylings nearby, they are found in shallow lakes with astonishing populations, where fish up to 60 cm and 2 kg is caught every year. The brown trout is present in four different types here - sea-run trout, stationary river-trout, lake-living brown trout and a stationary creek-living brown trout. They can convert into different types depending on age and environmental facts and differ a lot in both behavior and size. All brown trout is protected in the Råne river system but can be caught and released. **Hotel** Our hotel annex, built in 2010, is directly adjacent to the restaurant and reception. We offer eight twin/double rooms, each with a TV and a bathroom. They are furnished Scandinavian style according to different themes, reflecting our climate and setting. **Cabins** Our cabins were recently renovated and are excellent for families, and as twin/double rooms for couples or friends travelling together. They all contain a kitchenette and bathroom. **Restaurant Kallkällan** The culinary side of Sörbyn is our restaurant Kallkällan (The Spring) and it is run with the aim of constantly developing our local cuisine. Mostly, we work with organic produce from the immediate area, which we complement with delicacies from other parts of the world. This is how we achieve an array of flavors based on traditional Swedish dishes with global finesse. This is where you will get a taste of Swedish Lapland.
